Review : Complete, uncut, and visually stunning--previews shown at Comic-Con 2014
I attended the Comic-Con panel on July 24, 2014, which featured Adam West, Julie Newmar, and Burt Ward, as well as clips from the Blu-ray release and information on extras. I can confirm that the Limited Edition Blu-Ray will include never before seen photos, a Hot Wheels Batmobile, and several featurettes on the disks. The episodes themselves look gorgeous--scratches cleaned up, colors corrected, modest sharpening done. At the split screens showing the old TV broadcast vs. the new Blu-Ray, the improvements were stunning. This will be a "must-own" for physical media. Episodes will be complete and uncut. They even showed cameos by Dick Clark, the Green Hornet and Kato, and Bill Dana as José Jimenez. Fans will not be disappointed.

Review : Kiki Delivers
Face it: any kids' video you buy will be watched over and over, mostly in your presence. You want to choose carefully, since you will be spending so much quality time with this video. Kiki's Delivery Service won't disappoint you. This sweet, gentle movie is a coming-of-age story about Kiki, a 13-year-old witch-in-training. As part of said training, she is required to spend a year away from home practicing her craft. Her subsequent adventures are the subject of this endearing film by Japanese anime director Hayao Miyazaki. The animation is splendid, the casting mostly inspired (Kirsten Dunst, Janeane Garofalo, Debbie Reynolds, and even the late Phil Hartman as the voice of Kiki's companion cat). Unlike the standard Disney fare, this movie has no violence, no sex, no profanity, and not even a dysfunctional family.
The themes of Kiki's Delivery Service are noble ones. There are far worse ways to spend a few hours (or a few dozen) than watching a young girl make...

Review : Denzel Is Back!
Over the past couple of years, Denzel Washington went from Hollywood A-lister to serious disappointment. "Safe House" was a disaster, "Flight" was okay at best, and movies like "Pelham 123", "Unstoppable" and "2 Guns" are a dime a dozen. Where was the Denzel from the mid-2000s, where films like "Deja Vu" and "Man on Fire" showcased him at his best? I almost didn't even go see "The Equalizer" because I was so afraid of another disappointment. Luckily, while not perfect by any means, this film shows that Denzel does still have greatness in him.

Review : More Human than Human, that's our motto ...
Having seen this movie probably more times and in more different formats than most people, I thought it was time I write a few words about this masterpiece of filmmaking. Truly, I wasn't boasting with my assertion that I've seen this movie as much as I have (I watch this movie almost once a week and have done so for almost 10 years). I own several, still unopened, VHS tapes that for a large part of the nineties I did my best at collecting. I own the Japanese Laserdisc version, a rare bootleg VHS version that was distributed over the internet a handful of years ago that has the narration selectively placed back into the Director's Cut version of the film, not called the Esper Version as some would want to label it, the Director's Cut and now the HD version of the Final Cut. That makes 5, but 6 if you count the Workprint version that comes with this box set. So, I would say that's one more than most.

Review : It's a great deal for an epic movie trilogy!
I was initially confused by the packaging, as this box set appears to have been produced for the UK market (notice the rating emblem... it says '12' rather than 'PG-13'). Fortunately, this isn't an issue. These discs are region free, and play just fine on my USA market BD player (unlike DVDs, which were all region coded, many Blu-ray Discs are region free... however, some are still region coded, and the regions are different from DVDs, so research before you buy anything foreign).

All that aside, I am thoroughly pleased with this product. Take note, this is just the Blu-rays, and not a BD DVD Digital Copy combo pack, which is fine by me. I mean, $35 for the Ironman trilogy on Blu-Ray? That's fantastic!

As for the movies themselves, I cannot give an unbiased review, as my wife and I are both enormous Marvel fans. We actually bought this for each other for our anniversary. Yeah, we're that into it. Don't judge us.

Season three of Justified continues its tradition of upholding the principles of author Elmore Leonard, who created the character of Raylan Givens, and whose taut, detailed examinations of lives on both sides of the criminal fence receive some of their best screen depictions in the series. Scripting and directing (by Michael Dinner, John Dahl, Jon Avnet, Tony Goldwyn, and Adam Arkin, who also turns up as a crime boss in episode 11) remain feature-quality, and the rock-solid lead turns by Olyphant and Goggins are well matched by the regular supporting cast, including Zea, Nick Searcy, and Joelle Carter as Boyd's livewire girlfriend turned crime partner Ava, and recurring players Davies, Jere Burns, Raymond J. Barry (as Givens's addled but still dangerous father), and William Ragsdale. Guest turns by Carla Gugino, who essentially reprises her turn as Leonard's tough deputy marshal Karen Sisco from the short-lived ABC series of the same name, as well as Michael Ironside and Jim Beaver are also fine, but it's Williamson and especially McDonough who deliver the biggest fireworks in season three, with the latter providing a compelling and repellant villain on par with Margo Martindale's Emmy-winning turn as Mags Bennett in season two. Extras on the three-disc DVD set are also top-notch and include commentary by Yost, Olyphant, and other key cast and production members on nine episodes, as well as a making-of featurette that rises above the usual encapsulation/electronic press kit approach to discuss the challenges of transitioning from season two and introducing the new antagonists; a tour of Limehouse's home turf and a look at a car explosion stunt, as well as a brief collection of deleted scenes (both of which improve the versions in the broadcast cut) and outtakes, round out the set. --Paul Gaita

Season two continues the fine balancing act between richly detailed characterizations and visceral violence established in the debut season by the show's cast and creative team, as well as its assimilation of Leonard's trademark dialogue and plotting. Acting and direction also remain top-notch, with the returning players adding new layers to their roles, while Martindale and Jeremy Davies as her malevolent son offer two of the most memorable villains in recent memory. Review : Marvel scores again with entertaining Thor sequel
First off, I have to say that if you're looking for solid science in this movie, you're barking up the wrong tree and should buy yourself some Stephen B. Hawking and let the rest of us just enjoy a rip-roaring fun movie. The reviews that called to task the science in "Thor: The Dark World" just make me laugh. After all, this is a Marvel Universe movie, one in which a gamma irradiated scientist turns into a green monster when he's mad and in which a super soldier can sleep in ice for decades and wake up to rock spandex and a shield. Who cares if Jane and Erik Selvig spout nonsense? I mean, come on, can you honestly say you know what would happen if a bunch of dark elves decide to return the universe to darkness? No? Right, so let's move on shall we. "Thor: The Dark World" kicks cinematic butt, picking up where "The Avengers" left off with Thor putting out fires across the 9 Realms and Loki being kicked to the curb...er, dungeon...for trying to subjugate us poor...

Review : 'Catching Fire' amongst the greatest sequels in film history
After more than a year and a half, the seemingly endless wait has finally come to an end. The Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire, is here. If anticipation could literally kill people, this film would have whipped out tens of millions - not dissimilar from a Harry Potter or Twilight sequel. Regardless, the difference between The Hunger Games and Harry Potter or Twilight is the target audience of The Hunger Games is limitless. While the first film nearly broke the $700 million barrier worldwide, this franchise has picked up so much momentum that there shouldn't be any stopping it, right? Well, it's not like we aren't all aware of the dreaded "curse of the sequel," but rest assured Hunger Games fans - there's nothing to fear here.

Review : Collector's Set Packaging Woes
To preface this review, let me state that it is in no way a comment about the films themselves. They are all wonderful. The two stars are for the packaging and content of the Collector's Set, which arrived at my door about half an hour ago.

I've had this on pre-order since it first appeared back in July of 2012. I never canceled my pre-order, so I ended up getting it for $139.99 (plus tax, now that Amazon has to comply with tax code). Would I buy it again for this price? Well, probably, because purchasing each of the film versions included individually would cost almost $200, so you're getting a great price cut on the whole set. With a savings of nearly $60, why would I only "probably" buy it again? Each of the discs is packaged in a glossy cardboard sleeve, and on delivery, some of my discs were already scratched from sliding. All of the disc sleeves are inserted with the sleeve openings angled towards the back of the case, resulting in sliding during shipment and storage...

Review : THIS is THE blu-ray BLADE TRILOGY
I ordered that "other" blu-ray Blade Trilogy (I think it was Canadian based?), the one with the horrible aspect ratios and very strange audio at times... like shotguns that sounded so whimpishly fake, etc. Yeah, some of you know the one. The one that some of us may have ordered having given up on a proper American based release.

I pre-ordered this Warner Bros. release since all indicators were that the aspect ratios were going to be corrected. And if they were going to do that, it was my best case scenario hope that the audio would be fine as well. Was it worth the gamble? By gosh.... THIS is THE blu-ray BLADE TRILOGY that you have been waiting for - at any price (and this happens to be a very, very good price)!

While the packaging leaves a bit to be desired (never did like stacking discs), it doesn't matter. Why? Because that "other" Blade Trilogy came with 3 individual cases in a box set! Guess who swapped out discs? :)

Review : HIS LIFE IS TAK3N AWAY

People will never give a good movie a chance if it's either a sequel or it comes off a not so good last movie. But seriously people!?!?! This was a great movie, still not better then the first Taken but still great. I assume you know what happens because we have all seen it in the trailer. People make jokes, What's getting taken this time? Well to answer, nobody physically is being taken. HIS LIFE is being Taken. That was the purpose of this movie. 1st Movie-Kim, 2nd-Lenny, 3rd-HIS LIFE. And that is something I really didn't think of when this movie was in the works and I was generally surprised. The acting in this movie is great and the detective was cool to watch. The only really negative I can say is the ending of this movie, I mean it was okay but I wish it was longer. But regardless, still a great movie and BUY IT!

Review : Revenge.....
This movie was OUTSTANDING! Although the very beginning was emotionally draining, it was an awesome movie. So well done...so well choreographed that Keanu Reeves' fighting scenes flowed like artwork. If you saw the promo, you already know that John Wick is/was a real tough guy. (He actually gave up the hard life and settled down.) When his wife died, he was devistated, until a package was delivered. She had ordered him a puppy to ease his pain after she passed on. Shortly after, some bad guys from a Russian mob broke into his place, beat the heck out of him, and killed the dog. Again, all this was in the promo, and in the very beginning of the movie.

To say he was upset, would be a severe understantement. Of course, he goes after these guys bent on revenge. It is a very intense and very violent movie, but DARN it was good! My son saw a special, explaining that Keanu learned his moves for "The Matrix". Keanu was in his prime. I definitely plan on buying...

I'm a first-generation Star Wars fan since 1977, having seen the original versions of the original three films in the theater one time each as a child, then falling in love with them all over again on VHS in 1987. And I've been a huge fan ever since. The Star Wars Saga is the ultimate epic space opera and film series.

This isn't actually a review of the movies most of you reading this will have seen one or more versions of dozens of times, although this review will discuss some of the changes made to the films.
